Free Counselling with Look and York College

These free sessions are available to VI people (aged 18+) and their families.

We have teamed up with York College to offer the Look community free counselling sessions with the colleges trainee counsellors.

Susan Simpson, Programme Lead of York College counselling courses also developed the original mentoring course for LOOK and trained our first mentors. She has a good understanding of sight loss and we are very much looking forward to working with Susan and her team again.

All trainee counsellors are in the first year of the ABC Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling course, have passed their proficiency to practice, are DBS checked with indemnity insurance and are members of the BACP.

Counselling one to one sessions will be available on-line through a safe and secure platform (Zoom, Skype, VSee).  If you are 18 or over, visually impaired or related to someone with a visual impairment (as a family member or carer), you will be able to spend 50 minutes with one of the trainee counsellors to discuss any of your concerns.  The trainees are person-centered, offering empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard to you.  They actively listen to what you have to say and help you to make sense of ‘your’ world view.

If you would like to access these session or to find out more, please contact us on info@look-uk.org or call 07464 351958.
