“All parent carers deserve to give themselves the time for this course. If you commit to the course it supports you in improving physical and mental health to better meet the demands of being a parent.” Participant Spring 2024 course
The Healthy Parent Carers programme improves the health and well-being of parent carers by promoting greater empowerment, resilience and confidence.
Parent carers face increased risks of mental and physical health problems. Often prioritising the health and well-being of their children and neglecting their own needs.
The programme has been inspired and developed by parent carers working within the University of Exeter Medical School. The ‘small steps’ approach enables participants to feel in control and able to think outside of their caring duties in an encouraging and fun way. Participants create a new community of support and develop strategies to deal with the challenges that being a parent carer brings.

“Investing in this programme is an investment in yourself, enabling you to create a sense of calm even while navigating an emotional rollercoaster. By reclaiming a part of yourself, you gain the tools to be a more positive and effective parent carer.”
