The Healthy Parent Carers programme improves the health and wellbeing of parent carers by promoting empowerment, confidence, and buoyancy.

The programme has been inspired and developed by parent carers working within the University of Exeter Medical School. The ‘small steps’ approach enables participants to feel in control and able to think outside of their caring duties in an encouraging and fun way. Participants create a new community of support and develop strategies to deal with the challenges that being a parent carer brings.

Jane Ring and Jo Lomas from LOOK have been trained to lead the Healthy Parent Carers course. We hope that you can take advantage of this opportunity.

Please note that there is no fee for the course, but we do ask that you commit to attending all the sessions. We understand that due to the nature of being a parent carer unforeseen circumstances could arise and will be accommodated.

This spring the twelve week course will run on Wednesday mornings 10-12 starting on 21st February. There will be a two week break during the Easter holidays (April 3rd and April 10th). The last session will be on May 22nd.

“A fantastic course that I would recommend to any parent/carer. It’s easy to lose yourself as a parent/carer – now I know who I am, what I need and I have a toolbox of strategies to use everyday. When I started the course I think I was just in survival mode. Now I’m able to reflect on the pressures of every day and make sure I build time for self care and I’m in a much better headspace. The course is a big commitment, but you will not regret the investment in time.”
