This unique archery experience gave visually impaired young people and their families the chance to spend time outside, try something new, and unleash their inner Robin Hood!
An Accessible and Inclusive Experience
The team at The Viking Games & Battlelands put in a lot of effort to ensure the event was accessible to everyone. From carefully adapted equipment to a welcoming and supportive atmosphere, they made sure that each participant—regardless of experience—felt comfortable and confident taking part.
For many, it was their first time trying archery, while others were rediscovering a sport they hadn’t done in years. There was plenty of friendly competition, with siblings battling it out to see who had the best aim, and families coming together to support one another.
A Breath of Fresh Air
This event was a little different from many of LOOK’s recent activities, and families really appreciated the chance to get outdoors and try something new. One young person shared;

Beyond the thrill of archery, what stood out was the sense of togetherness. Families weren’t just attending an event about visual impairment; they were simply enjoying a day out, laughing, learning, and bonding over a shared experience.
A Lasting Impact
With 5 families and 11 participants taking part, the event was a great success. Many left feeling inspired and eager to return—some even planning to go back independently. It’s clear that the impact of the day extended far beyond the arrows hitting the target.
