Media Mob | Team day out
Media Mob take on the SENSAS escape room!
This summer, the Media Mob swapped microphones for magnifying glasses and headed to SENSAS escape room in London for a team day out. Here’s how they got on.
Getting there was an adventure in itself
The team met at Vauxhall station before setting off to find the escape room. Everyone was really excited to see what adventures were in store for us!
The briefing (and the nerves that came with it)
Once we’d checked in, the SENSAS team gave us our briefing — and it wasn’t long before we were all pretty nervous about what was to come! There was talk of creepy crawlies, mystery “foods” to taste, and boxes we’d have to put our hands into without knowing what was inside. Nobody quite knew what they’d signed up for, but we were excited to try something completely new together.
Taste, touch and smell: put to the test
First up was the taste test. Sweetcorn, crickets and everything in between — the team worked together to guess what was what, collecting tokens along the way so we could move on to the next challenge.
Next came the feel test: hands into boxes, searching for tokens without knowing what might be waiting inside. Whether is was fury tales on slimy skin we all had to battle our inner fears to beat the escape room challenge.
Beth was fearless, collecting an incredible 80% of the team’s tokens single-handedly.
Then the smell test. The team flew through this one — fast, sharp and full of confident guesses. The only smell that stumped everyone? Olive oil.
Logic, language and a little bit of rule-bending
The “yes/no” game put everyone’s acting and logical thinking to the test. It’s fair to say a few rules were stretched along the way in the name of getting to the right answer.
The team also raced through the braille section in minutes, working out clues with real skill and speed.
The highlight: lasers and a glow-in-the-dark ball pit
The final challenges were the highlight of the day. The glow-in-the-dark ball pit brought out everyone’s inner child, with the whole team diving in and having a brilliant time.
Then came the laser maze — a real test of communication and teamwork. Guiding each other through without touching a single laser took patience, trust and determination. And the team made it to the end together.
Drinks, cake and a proper catch-up
After a brilliant few hours of puzzles and problem-solving, the team headed to the park for drinks, cake and a well-earned debrief. It was the perfect way to end the day — plenty of laughter and a proper chance to catch up.
Huge thanks to the team
A massive thank you to Nat, Finn and Beth for joining the day. It was a brilliant reminder of what the Media Mob is all about: working together, trying new things, and having fun along the way.
Days like this are what keep our community strong — and it’s that same spirit of connection and support that sits at the heart of everything LOOK does.
