LOOK Music Group is back with another discussion and another guest speaker – plus time for chatting and performing!
Our group will meet every other month and we’ll be hosting an exciting mix of special guests, an opportunity to perform for each other, chat about music and hang out with other musically minded young people.
Accessing Live Concerts
Tuesday 16th August 6-7 pm
In August we’ll be talking about how to get the most out of attending live concerts and have the best time. LOOK Sussex Mentor Project Officer Sydney May will be sharing her top tips on how to best access live gigs with LOOK host Warren Wilson.
As a frequent visitor of live music events – both on and off stage! – Syd has a wealth of experience and advice to share, with Download Festival being a particular favourite.
Syd is also a bass player in the band Torrid (A Love Affair) and will also be sharing her advice on navigating the stage as a blind performer.
Warren too is an ardent fan of live performances and he’ll be topping up Sydney’s top tips with his own experiences and sharing an anecdote or two along the way.
The second half of our LOOK Music Group will be a chance for everyone to share their musicality and exchange stories and fun.
Please come along to this fun chat and a chance to perform for other music-minded young people.
Meet the music group panel!
Sydney May – Sussex Mentor Officer, LOOK UK.

I’m Sydney, 30, blind, a loving guide dog owner, musician and life coach as well as Sussex mentor project officer for LOOK.
I’m a bassist in a Brighton-based signed band, we just released our debut album!
As well as my work with sight loss charities I have various freelance projects on the side including private life coaching and freelance accessibility testing mostly around websites, another cause I feel passionate about as accessibility to all is vital.
I’m a keen gym goer and runner even if not a particularly fast one and love travelling to hotter climates and always keeping myself open to new experiences.
LOOK Mentor Warren Wilson

Hi, my name is Warren, I’ve gone to live music events in all shapes and sizes from music festivals like Glastonbury, Reading and Download, to local festivals, large arena gigs and live performances by local bands in the back of a pub.
Whatever the shape, size or type of music, I love going to live performances. I’ve experienced this with full sight, deteriorating sight and also since I was registered blind at 19.
One of my favourite live music experiences was seeing ‘System of a Down’ at Download Festival. My friends helped me experience it in the crowd and it was wild in just the right way – one hell of a workout.
I’m really looking forward to hearing all about your experiences!
Join us every other month on Thursdays from 6 pm – 7 pm for musical games, music chat and the chance to perform for one another.
