LOOK Music Group

Free online music group for under 18-year-old VI young people. This month we're joined by star guest Sirine Jahangir; singer on Britain's Got Talent 2020, chatting about all things music.

LOOK Music Forum is back! We have a new name, LOOK Music Group and each week we’ll be welcoming a new guest musician.

Our group will meet every other month and we’ll be hosting an exciting mix of special guests, an opportunity to perform for each other, chat about music and hang out with other musically minded young people.

For the Love of Music with Sirine Jahangir

23rd June 6-7 pm

In June we’ll be welcoming Sirine Jahangir. Sirine is a singer and she plays piano and guitar – you might be familiar with her showstopping performance on Britain’s Got Talent in 2020!

Sirine’s musical career continues and she’s now a student at the prestigious BRIT School of Performing and Creative Arts.

Sirine will be talking about why she loves music with our LOOK mentors and hosts Lacey and Sarah. Sirine will discuss why music is so important to her, her influences, learning her craft and much more. She’s even promised to perform for us!

The second half of our Look Music Group will be a chance for everyone to share their musicality and exchange stories and fun.

Meet the music group panel!

Sirine was seven years old when she wrote her first song and soon after discovered piano and guitar. After losing her sight at eleven, she says “it went from being a heart-felt hobby to a need for it to be a lifelong career”.

Following her hit performance on Britain’s Got Talent (this was the first time she had played in front of a large audience), Sirine went on to give a TEDx talk and appear at the Coca-Cola Festival. As well as her studies at the BRIT school, Sirine is often invited to speak at schools and continues to write her own music.

LOOK Mentor Sarah

Hello, I’m Sarah, a 3rd-year music student at BIMM (British and Irish modern music Institute).

I have a passion for music, especially popular music, in particular contemporary vocals.

I’ve been in love with singing since the age of 9. I enjoy country music because of its storytelling elements and because of amazing artists such as Dolly Parton, Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks.

I also love to perform acoustic sets as I believe it allows for more vulnerability and emotional connections with the audience. In this, I am influenced by Eva Cassidy and hope to one day be able to sing and play the guitar as well as she did.

This helps me express myself, keeping me grounded and happy. It is my dream to help others develop self-expression through creative means such as music.

I believe that everyone has a right to enjoy and engage in musical activities regardless of ability. It’s about expression and having fun!

LOOK Mentor Lacey

Image of Lacey sat on a black sofa wearing a blue hooded top with the word Animal written on it.

My name is Lacey, I am from Hereford and I have been one of the Music group facilitators since the end of 2020.

I have always had an ear for music after discovering my grandparent’s piano when I was really small and got a keyboard when I was four which I still have now.

I’m a flautist and like to play as part of ensembles. I like to listen to a variety of music from orchestral film soundtracks to some heavy rock. I have been to see Shikari perform five times and have also seen Lady Gaga and JLS live when I was a teen.

Join us every other month on Thursdays from 6 pm – 7 pm for musical games, music chat and the chance to perform for one another.
