Education to Employment Workshops (Blind in Business)

Blind in Business is a British charity that helps blind and partially sighted  students into employment following graduation by providing a free training and employment service.

The charity offers technical help and training courses for schoolchildren with a visual impairment, while also supporting graduates and potential employers with training and technical help.

Education to Employment is an event that combines adventure and team building with networking, interviews and a mock assessment centre. The aim of this event is to build confidence and gain interview experience in order to progress into graduate
employment.

The first part of the event will be held on the 28th and 29th of  June in central London

Day one will start with rock climbing– a fun way to get to know everyone better and try
something a bit different. We will then head back to the hotel to freshen up for the evening meal. We will enjoy a three-course meal where you will have the opportunity to meet some of our alumni and chat to them about their different career experiences.

Day two is where the hard work begins; the morning session will be a mock assessment centre, consisting of group tasks, presentations, reasoning, judgement, and negotiation exercises. After lunch, you will be involved in interviews with a range of top graduate employers.

They will be holding an Education to Employment insight webinar on Friday 19th of May at 1pm. This is an opportunity to find out more about the event and ask any questions you may have.

The webinar will be held via Zoom:

Day one will start with a welcome to the event and goal setting. In this session, we will
discuss what you hope to gain from the event and answer any questions you may have.

Day two will start with a visit to a top employer where you will hear more about their
organisation, variety of roles and their recruitment process. Following this, we will head to
an adventure park where you will take part in tubing and a team building activity, a fun way to get to know everyone better and try something a bit different. We will then head back to the hotel to freshen up for the evening meal. We will enjoy a three-course meal where you will have the opportunity to meet some of our alumni and chat to them about their different career experiences.

Day three is where the hard work begins; the morning session will provide insight into interviews and different interview styles. In the afternoon, you will take part in mock interviews with an employer, receiving detailed feedback on your performance.
