An exciting opportunity has arisen within LOOK UK for a part time Office Manager with HR responsibilities to support our team.

LOOK UK is a small but mighty charity, supporting visually impaired young people to thrive. We offer structured peer support for our young people and their parent / carers, through our mentoring project, support groups and events programme. We believe that nobody should have to cope alone. By creating community and connection amongst visually impaired young people and their families, we aim to boost confidence and increase access to social, employment and education opportunities.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within LOOK UK for a full time Communications Co-ordinator to support our team.

You will manage all social media channels and campaigns, with an aim to sustain an engaging audience experience and to increase audience interaction; research and analyse social media performance to improve social media presence; work with all team members to promote the overall organisation through social media channels, website and monthly newsletter; manage all team and audience communication regarding social media; coordinate the collation of resources, copy and media to regularly update the charity’s website; work with the wider team to assemble engaging and informative content to produce a monthly newsletter to be distributed to the charity’s database.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee LOOK’s social media account management across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok. Develop engaging, creative, innovative content for daily scheduled posts and further comms, which promote LOOK’s ethos and inclusive messaging, including external media
  • Work with the LOOK team to plan and deliver external communications campaigns across multiple channels
  • Record video/audio to create media for use online and in marketing campaigns.
  • Create and edit copy, video and audio to use on social channels and for website resources.
  • Coordinate social media messaging with all departments and align it to LOOK’s monthly and yearly goals.
  • Collate content and writes copy for monthly newsletter and distribute to LOOK’s database.
  • Create e-shots to promote events and other news.
  • Work with team to establish social media and website promotional schedule for key events.
  • Raise LOOK’s profile through national media, writing press releases, and spotting promotional opportunities
  • Build relationships with funders and donors by creating and developing our communications with all our supporters
  • Support (when required) with technology management for live events.
  • Manage website updates and developments which include the coordination of assets, editing copy, producing creative and launching new resources and events on the website.
  • Work with other departments to develop social media timelines coinciding with key events and campaigns.
  • Management of the communications planner, working with all team members to ensure parties are aware of upcoming content requirements, the content brief and deadlines.
  • Guide team members on content needs including format, medium and copy requirements. Editing copy where necessary to reflect the voice of LOOK and support project objectives.
  • Coordinate with the LOOK team to ensure the content planner continually evolves to support LOOK’s strategic focus for the year.
  • Manage all inquiries made through social media channels and communicate these to the LOOK team
  • Generate opportunities to raise LOOK’s profile in the media, and build relationships with journalists
  • Analyse social media performance and gather data to determine growth opportunities and make recommendations to the LOOK team.
  • Create quarterly reports on social media, website and newsletter analytics, evaluate findings and offer insights and suggestions to the team.

Prior Knowledge / Experience (desired):

Understanding of the barriers faced by disabled people
Understanding of the needs of visually impaired young people and their families
Experience using Salesforce

Experience in external communications across multi-platforms, including broadcast and print media

Experience in writing media releases and building relationships with stakeholders, including journalists and editors

The successful applicant will be required to:

Work flexibly, from home with some visits to our Hereford office, and/or regional outposts (Cambridge, Sunderland, London)
Travel nationally occasionally (wider circumstances allowing)
Be available for occasional evening and weekend working
Practicalities:
Contract length: 12 months (with 3 month probationary period)

Location: Remote, with ability to work from afore-mentioned locations

Salary: £26 – £30k depending on experience
